Thomas Coffey

"I am a painter living and working in Bentonville, Arkansas, though I grew up in Tacoma, Washington. I have a BFA in Painting from Harding University, and am an MFA Candidate in Painting at the University of Arkansas. 
 
I seek to make paintings which approach my surroundings with a poetic sensibility, negotiate a daily sense of distance and dislocation, and draw close to my subject matter through tactile material. I want to share with the viewer my own sensory and emotional experience of my environment, atmospheres which can be joyful, overwhelming, frantic, peaceful, dislocating, or some combination of these all at once."
